Flublok® Trivalent is a recombinant influenza vaccine formulated for the 2026–2027 flu season. It is supplied as a sterile, clear, colorless solution for intramuscular injection in preservative-free, latex-free, single-dose prefilled syringes.

Recombinant Manufacturing Platform

Flublok is produced using recombinant DNA technology, not egg-based or traditional cell-based virus propagation.

It contains purified hemagglutinin (HA) proteins from three influenza virus strains. The HA proteins are:

• Produced in a continuous insect cell line (expresSF+®), derived from Spodoptera frugiperda (fall armyworm) cells

• Expressed using a baculovirus vector (Autographa californica nuclear polyhedrosis virus)

• Extracted using Triton X-100

• Further purified via column chromatography

• Blended and filled into single-dose syringes

Key differentiation:

• No live influenza virus used in manufacturing

• No egg-based production

• High antigen content per strain

Antigen Content & Potency

Flublok is standardized according to United States Public Health Service (USPHS) requirements.

Each 0.5 mL dose contains:

• 135 micrograms (mcg) total hemagglutinin (HA)

  • 45 mcg HA per strain (3 strains)

This is 3x the antigen content of standard-dose egg or cell-based influenza vaccines (which typically contain 15 mcg per strain).

Inactive Ingredients (Per 0.5 mL Dose)

• Sodium chloride – 4.4 mg

• Monobasic sodium phosphate – 0.2 mg

• Dibasic sodium phosphate – 0.5 mg

• Polysorbate 20 (Tween® 20) – 27.5 mcg

Residual Trace Components

Each dose may contain small residual amounts of:

• Baculovirus and Spodoptera frugiperda cell proteins (≤ 14.3 mcg)

• Baculovirus and cellular DNA (≤ 10 ng)

• Triton X-100 (≤ 100 mcg)
