Sanofi, a French multinational pharmaceutical company, has agreed to purchase US based Protein Sciences. In addition to Sanofi's current flu vaccine line up, the acquisition will expand their flu portfolio with non-egg based flu vaccine.

In addition, the acquisition will expand Sanofi's reach into the United States pharmaceutical and biotechnological sector.

Sanofi currently holds the highest position in the flu vaccine space. The acquisition is expected to finalize in the third quarter.
